This car is said to be able to compete against Corvette and Porsche, what makes it so special?

This car was designed with physics in mind. The first priority was making sure the car obeyed the laws of physics and the second was to make sure it looked like a Toyota. The GR GT is the baby of the Toyota the everyday person knows and loves and Toyota’s Gazoo Racing coming together to make something that everyone can love. The car is long and wide, but slim at the same time. This car has the same base as its race car counterpart, the GR GT3, made for actual racing.

This car wasn’t originally intended as a road car, it was first its counterpart. Usually when making a car, this isn’t the case, Toyota flipped the formula. Usually, a normal road car gets supped up and then turned into a sports car, but that’s changed. The reason this car even came to be was because Toyota was embarrassed they couldn’t make a car that could compete in the long run at Nürburgring, they only made small achievements against a slightly enhanced everyday BMW.

The engine in this car is a motorsport engine (4.0 L V8) specifically made for this car and it includes an electric motor in it. Believe it or not, this motor isn’t to make this car more sustainable, it’s so the car has an extra 641 horsepower and so it makes the car go as soon as you hit the throttle (this only applies to two rear wheels by the way).

This car is so groundbreaking because it’s doing what everybody else isn’t, or at least, not in the same way they’re doing it. Everyone else is making sustainable hybrids while Toyota is making a hybrid purely for performance. The car isn’t meant to be practical, it’s meant to prove a point and that is what makes it stand out from everyone else.
