Saint Patrick's Day is on March 17th; it is a holiday full of tradition, and for many around the world it is a special day. Learn about Irish history, symbols like the shamrock, and why people celebrate this holiday every year.

St. Patrick’s Day is on March 17th and it celebrates St. Patrick, who helped bring Christianity to Ireland. People celebrate by wearing green, having parades, and eating Irish food. We want to write about this day because it has a lot of history and fun traditions, this sparks great interest for us. It has also always been sort of a funny holiday for us as a group growing up.

Why do we wear green? In simple terms, it celebrates Irish culture. But how? The tradition is rooted in the 1798 Irish Rebellion where the color green symbolized nationalism throughout the country. It was later used as folklore to honor the “Emerald Isle”, to avoid being pinched by a leprechaun. St. Patrick was also believed to have used the color green to explain the Holy Trinity.

This holiday is important because it helps people remember Irish culture and brings families and friends together. Everyone can join in and have fun, even if they are not Irish. Learning about St. Patrick’s Day makes us understand how holidays can teach us about different cultures and understand what other cultures bring to us.

I think St. Patrick’s Day is really fun and exciting. I like seeing people wear green and watching parades. Writing about it makes me happy because it shows how people can celebrate together and have a good time.

Our favorite tradition from St. Patrick’s day has to be the big parades, it is always so interesting to see what is in the parade and how interactive it is for the younger audience. If you do have a child, going to watch a parade is an amazing experience for a younger audience.
